Sleep Apnea

Midlothian Sleep Apnea Therapy with Oral Appliances

Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA, is a form of sleep disorder that can cause problems like waking up with headaches, difficulty staying asleep, or snoring.

OSA is caused usually by a blockage in your airway, and can occur around the back of your mouth and upper throat. It is usually caused by blockage of air flow in your oral tissues, such as your tongue, tonsils and soft palate.

Fortunately, sleep apnea is treatable with a custom oral appliance made by our Midlothian dentist.

How Oral Sleep Appliance Therapy Works

Oral sleep appliances open your airways naturally, as opposed to CPAP machines that force air into your lungs. Your custom-made mouthpiece is designed to position your lower jaw so that no soft tissues block your throat.

There is no bulky equipment that can get in your way when you wear your sleep device. Instead, your ability to breathe normally will be restored and you will notice an improvement in your sleeping quality within minutes of using the device.
